Creating art is often a deeply personal and sensory experience. Imagine enhancing that journey by soothing every sense before you even pick up a brush. I am thrilled to announce a unique opportunity next week, where I will merge sound bowl meditation with my meditative painting workshop to achieve just that. This session, scheduled for June 10th in the serene Langhuus space in Cham, Canton of Zug, will be our final gathering before the summer break. To lead us through the meditation, I have invited Patty Maria Van Zundert, whose calming presence and expertise will help us unwind and prepare for a truly creative adventure.
Personal connection to wellness
The inspiration for this workshop stems from my own experiences in wellness hotels, where I find immense joy in the tranquil atmosphere. The soothing effects of a sound bath can instantly relax our bodies, setting the perfect stage for creativity. By combining relaxation with artistic expression, my goal is to create a holistic experience that nurtures both the mind and spirit, allowing participants to fully immerse themselves in the creative process.

Why combine soundbowl meditation with painting?
Painting is a sensory-rich activity. It engages sight, touch, and sometimes even smell and sound. When the mind is cluttered or tense, it can be difficult to access the flow of creativity. Soundbowl meditation uses the vibrations and tones of metal bowls to calm the nervous system and bring focus to the present moment. This creates a relaxed state where creativity can emerge naturally.
By starting the workshop with soundbowl meditation, participants can:
Release tension in the body and mind
Heighten sensory awareness to colors, textures, and brushstrokes
Enter a meditative state that supports intuitive painting
Experience deeper relaxation that lasts throughout the session
Patty Maria Van Zundert’s guidance ensures that the meditation is accessible to everyone, whether you are new to meditation or have practiced before. Her voice and the soundbowls work together to create a soothing environment that invites calm and openness.
What to Expect at the Workshop
The workshop is designed to be a full sensory experience, blending meditation and painting in a way that nurtures creativity and relaxation. Here’s how the session will flow:
1. Arrival and Settling In
Participants will arrive at Langhuus, a stunning venue known for its natural light and peaceful atmosphere. The space is arranged to feel welcoming and uncluttered, with all materials ready for use.
2. Soundbowl Meditation with Patty Maria Van Zundert
We will begin with a guided meditation using soundbowls. This session focuses on relaxing the body and quieting the mind. The sound vibrations help participants feel grounded and present.
3. Transition to Painting
After meditation, participants will be invited to start painting. The relaxed state from the meditation helps to reduce self-judgment and encourages playful exploration with watercolors and forms.
4. Meditative Painting Practice
The painting portion encourages slow, mindful movements. Participants focus on the sensations of brush on canvas, the blending of colors, and the rhythm of their strokes. This is not about creating a perfect piece but about enjoying the process.
5. Reflection and Sharing
At the end of the workshop, there will be time to reflect on the experience and share insights or feelings if desired. This helps deepen the connection to the creative process and to others in the group.
Why Langhuus is the perfect setting
The location of a workshop greatly influences the experience. Langhuus offers a unique environment that supports relaxation and creativity:
Natural light floods the room, enhancing color perception and mood.
Quiet surroundings reduce distractions and promote focus.
Comfortable seating and spacious layout allow for ease of movement and comfort.
Aesthetic simplicity helps clear mental clutter and invites calm.
This setting complements the soundbowl meditation perfectly, creating a seamless transition from relaxation to creative expression.
What Participants Have Said About Past Workshops
Many who have attended previous meditative painting workshops have shared how the experience helped them reconnect with their creativity and find calm in busy lives. One participant noted:
“The combination of meditation and painting helped me slow down and really enjoy the moment. I left feeling refreshed and inspired.”
